| Cruiser Club U.S.A. (formerly Shadow Club U.S.A.) was formed in 1988 in Fort
Wayne, Indiana. Chuck Cottrell and two friends were cycling south to Tennessee
when a thought crossed Chuck's mind while following his buddies. Man, wouldn't
it be great if we had a large group of cruiser owners riding with us to wherever
our bikes lead us. The thought became a reality and now there are Cruiser Club
Chapters in several states and Canada. And the club is still growing.
In the summer of 1994 the original Shadow Club made its debut at the Honda Homecoming
in Marysville, Ohio. Everyone had a wonderful time and was overwhelmed by the
number of bikes and people who were there to see the cruisers. It was then realized
that the reality of going national was developing right before our eyes, and
we knew there was no turning back. Everyone involved in the Shadow Club had
to get ready for the growth that would surely come. At first, the club was limited
to owners of Honda Shadows, but that was to change.
Over the years other manufacturers came out with some excellent cruisers. Members
began buying Kawasaki's, Yamahas, and just about every other bike on the market.
It became obvious that a change was brewing. With members buying a wide range
of bikes the decision was made to change the name of the club to its present
name: Cruiser Club U.S.A.. The club was now open to any make of cruiser-style
motorcycle. Recently, members have been joining who own touring bikes and even
sport bikes. What we all share in common is the love of cruising down the road
on our machines. It doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you love the feel
of the wind in your face and the feeling of freedom that comes with motorcycling.
We are heading into the new millennium with a new name and outlook. We are nearly
20 chapters strong with over 400 members. We have a national rally each year
for club members and anyone else who loves motorcycling. Chapters in various
regions of the country sponsor their own regional rallies. And each chapter
has several rides yearly as well as holding monthly meetings. So please consider
becoming a part of our growing family of motorcycling enthusiasts.
Chuck Cottrell is now the National President of the Cruiser Club U.S.A.
