Constitution for Cruiser Club, USA

ARTICLE NO. 1

This club will be known as the Cruiser Club USA.

ARTICLE NO. 2


Section 1
Active members will be riders of motorcycles, persons actively concerned with the trade, or motorcycle enthusiasts. Honorary members will be any other persons as the club may decide by a two-thirds vote of those present at any regular meeting. Only active members will be entitled to a vote in club affairs or to win any prizes in club activities.

Section 2
A member or Chapter in good standing is one whose dues are paid in full by the due date established by members of the club.

ARTICLE NO. 3

Section 1
The officers of the club may be a president or national director, vice president, secretary, treasurer, chaplain, web master, regional representatives, and road captain and these officers will constitute the National Executive Board of Cruiser Club USA.

Nominations for National Office may be made by the National Director or National President, Chapters in good standing through their presidents (or their designees), or by a simple majority of sitting national officers. Appointments to National Office shall be ratified by a simple majority of Presidents (or their designees) of Chapters in good standing.

Section 2
No more than two national officers shall be appointed from any one Chapter.

Section 3
The National Executive Board is empowered to make all decisions concerning the welfare, promotion, and operation of the club. This shall include, but not be limited to expenditure of National funds, decisions concerning chapter status, and all of the club’s operation and business.

ARTICLE NO. 4

The duties of the national director or president will be:
* To preside at all meetings of the club.
* To keep organization's official membership roll.
* To have general supervision of the affairs of the club.
* To appoint any person or committee not otherwise ordered by the club.
* To personally represent the club on proper occasions and business contacts.
* To assist all other officers of the club in their records, correspondence and other duties.
* To promote interest for each member in club life and activities.
* To authenticate by his or her signature, when necessary, all acts, orders, and proceedings of the club.
* To vote only when necessary to break a tie.

ARTICLE NO. 5

The duties of vice president will be to assist in doing the duties of the president in his absence.

ARTICLE NO. 6

The secretary is the recording officer of the club and the custodian of its own records, except those specifically assigned to others, such as the treasurer‘s books. The duties of the secretary will be:
* To keep a record of the meetings of the club (usually called the minutes).
* To edit and distribute a National Newsletter.
* To make the minutes and records available to members upon reasonable time of request.
* To send out notices of regular or special meetings.
* To handle all club correspondence.
* To maintain a roster of all members in good standing.
* To perform such other duties as generally fill to that u/lice.


ARTICLE NO. 7

The treasurer of an organization is the officer entrusted with the custody of its funds. This officer cannot disburse funds except by authority of the National Executive Board. The duties of the treasurer will be:
* To collect dues from all the members.
* To collect all other money due to the club.
* To maintain club financial records and deliver reports annually.
* To make a financial report annually and to make such interim reports as the club may direct.

ARTICLE NO. 8

The duties of the sergeant-at-arms will be:
* To assist in preserving order as the chair may direct.
* To handle certain physical arrangements in the meeting place, as well, being responsible on some cases for seeing that the furnishings are in proper order for each meeting.
* To service notice of fines where applicable.
* To check the credentials or eligibility of those arriving for meetings of persons permitted to enter, and denies entrance to unauthorized persons.

ARTICLE NO. 9

The duties of the chaplain will be:
* To recite or lead invocations and benedictions where such prayers are offered at the opening and closing of meeting or other events.

ARTICLE NO. 1O

The duties of web master are to establish and/or maintain the National Web Site.

ARTICLE NO. 11

The duties of the road captain will be:
* To plan all club tours, rides, activities, etc.
* To lead the club information riding or parades.
* To arouse interest in activities.
* To assist in handling club social, parties, and other junctions.
* To enforce all rules of group riding.
* To select assistants to aid in special tasks.

ARTICLE NO. 12

The duties of the National Executive Board will be:
* To act for the club in all matters ordered by the club.
* To decide upon member expulsions.
* To properly investigate and present to the club all business or important activity situations.
* To have general control over all club activities.

ARTICLE NO. 13

Officers of the club chapters may he a president, vice president, secretary, treasure, chaplain, web master, and road captain as described above .

All elected Chapter officers shall be filled based on term (years,) and election time period (time of year of election) determined by each chapter. All Chapter officers will hold office for a term to be determined by each Chapter.

ARTICLE NO. 14

Five active members in good standing will constitute a quorum for transaction of club business.

ARTICLE NO. 15

The constitution may be amended or added to, providing the proposed amendment is submitted in writing at a regular National meeting or via e-mail. It will then presented to Chapter members and voted on. A two-thirds vote of all active members in good standing will be required to pass an amendment.
